For those with such names as Copage, Coppage, Cuppage, Coppedge and so on, this site explores the possible origins of the surname and the various places with which it is associated.
The reasons behind the various spellings are explained and it is shown that individuals can be part of the same family or lineage despite having apparently different surnames.
Examples are given of the earliest Copages in England as well as the Cuppages in Ireland and the Coppages/Coppedges of the USA which now has the highest number of bearers of the surname.
